Wilco and Billy Bragg have introduced they may carry out their collaborative 1998 and 2000 Mermaid Avenue albums in full for the primary time at Wilco’s personal Stable Sound competition on Friday, June twenty sixth.
The “Mermaid Avenue Dwell” efficiency — that includes Wilco and Bragg’s recordings set to the unpublished lyrics of Woody Guthrie — will open the competition, which is about to happen at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, from June twenty sixth to June twenty eighth, 2026. “The world wants all of the Woody Guthrie it will probably get. We’re thrilled that we get to carry these songs to life with Billy,” Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy mentioned in an announcement. Bragg added, “There’s an abiding love on the market for the Mermaid Avenue albums, so I’m actually trying ahead to reconnecting with Wilco to carry Woody’s phrases to life as soon as once more.”

The Mermaid Avenue mission got here collectively after Guthrie’s daughter, Nora, approached Bragg, a lifelong fan of her father, about composing music to accompany the lyrics. Bragg then introduced in Wilco, and collectively they recorded 15 tracks for 1998’s Mermaid Avenue. A follow-up album, Mermaid Avenue Vol. II, arrived in 2000. In 2012, Bragg and Wilco launched a field set containing each albums and an outtakes disc.
