The Who Fire Drummer Zak Starkey Again

The Who famously sang about not getting fooled once more, however apparently it’s okay to get fired once more. A month after firing and rehiring Zak Starkey, the legendary rock band has parted methods with the drummer as soon as extra.

On Instagram, guitarist and chief Who songwriter Pete Townshend wrote, “After a few years of nice work on drums from Zak the time has come for a change. A poignant time. Zak has a number of new initiatives in hand and I want him the most effective.” Townshend added that Scott Devours of singer Roger Daltrey’s solo band will take over behind the equipment for The Who’s upcoming farewell tour dates.

Nonetheless, Starkey, who’s the son of Beatles icon Ringo Starr, painted a not-so-amicable parting, alleging that the band had requested him to launch an announcement saying he had stop the band.

“I used to be fired two weeks after reinstatement and requested to make an announcement saying I had stop The Who to pursue my different musical endeavors this might be a lie,” wrote Starkey on Instagram. “I really like The Who and would by no means had stop. So I didn’t make the assertion ….quitting The Who would even have let down the numerous superb individuals who stood up for me (thanks all one million occasions over and extra) through the weeks of mayhem of me going ‘in an out an in an out an in an out like a bleedin’ squeezebox x.”

Final month, The Who had introduced they’d let go of Starkey following their Teenage Most cancers Belief profit live performance on the Royal Albert Corridor in London. A couple of days later, they reinstated Starkey, saying there had been “communication points.”

Starkey had been The Who’s longest-serving drummer, having joined the band in 1996. After his first firing, he had acknowledged, “I’m very pleased with my close to thirty years with The Who. Filling the footwear of my Godfather, ‘uncle Keith [Moon]’ has been the most important honor and I stay their largest fan.”
