New and Noteworthy J-pop

In reference to my need to totally sustain with the J-pop business, I’m planning on doing a weekly round-up of any new releases which have caught my ear. A few of these could have been lined on the weblog already, however my hope is that it will turn into a one-stop store for anybody eager about what’s new in J-pop.

With that in thoughts, right here’s the place you are available: I’m one particular person with one set of musical preferences, so please embed every other new J-pop tracks you’ve loved within the feedback so we will get a fuller spectrum every week.

*And similar to I do with my evaluations, I’ll wait till full variations of songs can be found earlier than posting them on this round-up. This can principally apply to Starto teams, who nonetheless restrict nearly all of their YouTube uploads to shorter, edited variations.

aoen – The Blue Solar (music of the week!)

Ando Tomoaki (ORβIT) – Melting Rain

Moody and boring.

BUDDiiS – LÖVE ME

Generic summer time boy group pop. I assume it really works in a pinch, however I hate the unnecessary tempo shifts.

Generations – Magic Hour

This mid-tempo entice sound with auto-tuned vocals just isn’t my factor in any respect.

GINTA & misono – TORICO (music of the week!)

I can’t inform if that is superior or horrible, however I’m digging the vitality. At the least it has a pulse!

INI – Dominance

Gosh, their music is simply circling the drain. What occurred?? I hate this type of boy group music. It’s only a bunch of empty bluster.

lol – Ever After

I assume that is their disbandment music. It appears like one, which is to be anticipated.

Might’n – The SEA Has Goals

She was not too long ago on this weirdly addictive Chinese language present “Sing! Asia” however sadly didn’t try this effectively with the judges. This music has good vitality and an optimistic tone.

Mrs. Inexperienced Apple – Breakfast

That is in all probability the closest we’ve gotten to the upbeat Magic since 2023 however the music just isn’t almost as robust, sadly.

Naniwa Danshi – Gira Gira Summer season

A little bit of this sound goes a good distance. On this case, it’s all a bit of annoying.

Information – Chankapana (English Model)

Does anybody really desire/hearken to English variations of established J-pop tracks? I actually didn’t want an English model of this traditional and may barely make out the lyrics anyway.

NMB48 – Kibô Ressha

A fairly standard-sounding 48 monitor. Nothing actually stands proud to me.

One Love One Coronary heart – Hoshi no shōmei

Actually not one in all their stronger singles (it’s very J-pop by the numbers), however I’ll all the time be glad to listen to extra from this group.

PG – Konnichiwa!

It’s cute, I assume.

The Sixth Lie – Are You There? (ft. Nagi)

That is so quick, however I actually just like the sound and pounding depth.

SixTONES – Boyz

Not the strongest factor I’ve heard from them, however I’m glad to have one other straight-ahead rock banger.

STAYC – Lover, Killer

I discover this a bit flat. The melodies don’t have a lot punch or hookiness.

Travis Japan – Burning Love

An Elvis Presley cowl for a Lilo & Sew soundtrack sung by a Starto group? That’s a wild mixture and that is innocent fluff.

TWS – Bloom (ft. Ayumu Imazu) (music of the week!)

I wrote about this right here. I favored it and it’s a straightforward spotlight of the week.

Yuko Suzuhana – Kesara Basara (music of the week!)

That is sort of pleasant. You solely get this type of stuff in Japan!

Stereo Dive Basis – Storyseeker (2021)

I completely love Stereo Dive Basis’s music, and this may simply be my favourite. The refrain is so huge and joyful.
