Elijah Wooden thinks it could be “fairly unbelievable” to reprise his position as Frodo Baggins in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’.
The 43-year-old actor performed the hobbit hero within the iconic fantasy movies, and has now revealed he’s open to returning to the world of Center-earth in Andy Serkis’ upcoming flick.
Talking to JoBlo, he stated: “It might be fairly unbelievable. I’ve to say, any return to New Zealand to work with these people throughout the context of that world could be … leaping again right into a world that’s so beloved and means a lot to me. So yeah, it could be superior.”
Whereas Wooden’s involvement within the film is unsure, Peter Jackson – the filmmaker behind ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy – signed on to function government producer on the brand new spin-off image, which can see Serkis reprise his position a Gollum/Sméagol, in addition to direct the flick.
Jackson defined it made extra sense to offer the character his personal film in comparison with the likes of Aragorn (Viggo Mortenson) or Legolas (Orlando Bloom) as a result of the staff “didn’t have time to cowl” Gollum’s full backstory within the authentic footage.
He advised Deadline: “The Gollum/Sméagol character has all the time fascinated me as a result of Gollum displays the worst of human nature, while his Sméagol facet is, arguably, fairly sympathetic.
“I feel he connects with readers and movie audiences alike, as a result of there’s a bit of little bit of each of them in all of us.
“We actually wish to discover his backstory and delve into these components of his journey we did not have time to cowl within the earlier movies.”
Though he emphasised it was “too quickly” to make any guesses about which different fan-favourite characters might seem within the film, the filmmaker insisted the flick would keep true to ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ creator JRR Tolkien’s imaginative and prescient.
He stated: “It is too quickly to know who will cross his path, however suffice to say we are going to take our lead from Professor Tolkien.”
