Gilson Lavis, the basic drummer for Squeeze and later a member of Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, has died on the age of 74.
Lavis’ passing was reported on Thursday by Holland, who wrote on Fb, “I’m very unhappy to report that Gilson Lavis my expensive good friend and long-standing drummer handed away at his residence in Lincolnshire final evening. On behalf of my Orchestra, Squeeze, the various musicians who’ve labored with and befriended Gilson over time and all of the individuals he has supported by way of the AA fellowship, I ship our love and sympathy to Nikki and Gilson, his expensive spouse and son.”
Born David Leslie Gilson Lavis on June twenty seventh, 1951, in Bedfordshire, England, the drummer obtained his begin touring with legendary musicians Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Dolly Parton.
