Bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream Dead at 63

Gary “Mani” Mounfield, the basic bassist of legendary UK bands The Stone Roses and Primal Scream, has handed away at age 63. He reportedly died after collapsing following a seizure at his house.

Mani’s dying was confirmed by his brother Greg, who wrote on Fb, “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I’ve to announce the unhappy passing of my brother. Gary Mani Mounfield RIP.”

The bassist was a part of the Stone Roses’ basic lineup, taking part in on their solely two albums, 1989’s legendary self-titled effort and its follow-up, 1994’s Second Coming. He joined the Manchester band in 1987, remaining with them till their breakup in 1996, and rejoining the band upon their reunion that lasted from 2011 by means of 2017.

Following the preliminary breakup of Stone Roses, Mani joined Scottish rockers Primal Scream, taking part in with the band from 1996 by means of 2011, and showing on a handful of their albums.

Along with the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, Mani additionally performed within the supergroup Freebass alongside fellow bass legends Andy Rourke (The Smiths) and Peter Hook (New Order), in addition to singer Gary Briggs (Haven).

Like a brother. I’m in shock to be trustworthy. Please inform me I’m simply having a foul, dangerous dream. My ideas and emotions and Manilove to all of his household from me. Mac Bunnyman Xxx.”

Stone Roses singer Ian Brown merely tweeted, “REST IN PEACE MANI,” whereas Pleased Mondays vocalist Shaun Ryder wrote, “RIP Mani – my heartfelt condolences to his twin boys and all of his household.”

Sadly, Mani’s spouse Imelda died two years in the past from most cancers. The couple leaves behind twin sons.
