Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver are set to co-star in Helpful Idiots.
The actresses will be a part of forces for director Joseph Cedar’s upcoming thriller, which relies on a script he wrote with 60 Minutes producer Shachar Bar-On.
Streep, 76, will star as veteran New York property market journalist Diane Fort, as she “covers the New York luxurious property market, disillusioned with writing puff items concerning the rich elite, and feeling regretful that she could not have lived as much as her potential”.
In accordance with Selection: “When a record-breaking sale of a brand new penthouse hits her desk, Diane’s questions concerning the purchaser’s identification result in what could possibly be the story of a lifetime… [Add in] a mysterious oligarch, whose affect stretches throughout Manhattan and past – protected by a community of fixers, enablers and an excellent younger strategist. Out of her depth, Diane digs deeper into the investigation, her dedication to uncover the reality revealing an internet of corruption and hazard on the highest ranges, ensnaring Diane, her household, and all these round her.”
Fifth Season will finance and produce with Nearer Media’s Zhang Xin and Jonathan King, Academy Award-winner Bruce Cohen and William Horberg.
Graham Taylor, Christopher Slager, and Dan Guando will govt produce for Fifth Season.
This would be the first time Streep and Weaver have co-starred in a film.
