Gloria Gaynor, born in Newark, New Jersey, on September 7, 1943, is an American singer, finest identified for her disco period hits, “I Will Survive” (1978), “By no means Can Say Goodbye” (1974), “Let Me Know (I Have a Proper)” (1979) and “I Am What I Am” (1984).
