Gillian Taylforth needs she was extra like her EastEnders character Kathy Beale.
The 69-year-old actress has portrayed the character because the BBC cleaning soap’s debut in 1985, and has now admitted she needs she was as “strong-minded” and assertive as Kathy in actual life.
Talking with the Day by day Mirror newspaper, Gillian stated: “Typically I want I used to be a bit extra like Kathy – she has loads of opinions, and I am a kind of individuals who sits on the fence. I’m not that strong-minded, however she is and I like that.
“She’s acquired a fantastic sense of humour, too – that is one thing we share. Once I’m out and about, individuals shout ‘Kathy!’ at me. And if individuals do not recognise me to start out with, as quickly as I discuss, they know it is me – it is the deep voice!”
Gillian – who left EastEnders after her character Kathy was presumed lifeless in 2006, earlier than returning to the cleaning soap in 2015 – added she has “wonderful relationships” along with her fellow cleaning soap stars, and shares “one thing particular” with Adam Woodyatt, who performs her on-screen son Ian Beale.
