Dubbed one among The Netherlands’ coziest festivals, Rastaplas on the seaside of ‘Noord AA’ in Zoetermeer celebrated its nineteenth version this 12 months. The festivities kicked off on the Friday night with performances by The LDE Band (Fortunate Dube Expertise), Groundation, and Unlisted Fanatic.
Though I couldn’t attend the Friday night exhibits, Saturday supplied loads of pleasure. The Soundsystem space featured King Shiloh and Rapha Pico, whereas the principle stage noticed performances by Surinamese/Dutch reggae star Kenny B, Omar Perry—who continues his father Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s legacy—and the wildly energetic Gentleman’s Dub Membership from the UK.
The spotlight of the pageant was undoubtedly Marcus Gad. Hailing from New Caledonia, Gad is famend for his spiritually infused music and aware lyrics, mixing conventional reggae with components of indigenous and world music to advertise messages of peace and unity.
Total, it was one other improbable day in sunny Zoetermeer. Thanks to the Rastaplas group for the hospitality. Hope to see you once more subsequent 12 months!
